The Lonely Mountain

I am actually rather proud of this one. I honestly cannot believe that it sold for as much as it did, but then again, I have always been my worst critic. I remember always loving the mountain scenes. When I was but a wee lad, my family took a trip around the mid west from Arkansas through Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Iowa, back through Missouri, then finally home to Arkansas. One of the memories I am most fond of was Bear Tooth Mountain.

I was captivated from Wyoming through Montana with the beauty of the mountain ranges... as well as the snowball fight in July. I was also quite enamored by the majesty of the ridges in the distance. Seeing them rise and fall and knowing that the roads and trails were subject to the mountains' formation, not vice-versa, was awe inspiring. The colors of the mountains were breathtaking as well. It truly was a grand experience.

I recently had the opportunity to make that journey again with my amazing mother. We went through the same passes through the mountains and saw so many incredible sights that I look forward with anticipation to the time when I'll go back! It certainly is something to see at least once in a lifetime; though I plan on seeing more than just once or twice. This is a journey I'll be sure to make multiple times throughout the years.
